Pages of real guidance
One year in Canada. Two daughters navigating Ontario schools. A lot of questions, some hard lessons โ and eventually, a website. This is that website.
The story
Why this guide exists
When my family arrived in Canada, we started from scratch โ just like every other immigrant family. Which school board? What is OSSD? How does OHIP work? What is a TFSA? The questions were endless and the answers were scattered across a dozen government websites, WhatsApp groups, and forum threads.
My daughters โ one in Grade 5, one in Grade 8 โ needed me to understand the Ontario school system fast. Not someday. Right now. Grade 8 is when course choices start to matter. Community hours need to be tracked. Streams need to be understood. I learned all of this the hard way, piece by piece.
After about six months of figuring it out, I realised I had built something in my head that other families would genuinely benefit from. So I turned it into a website. Not a business. Not a service. Just a fellow immigrant sharing what took a year to learn โ so the next family doesn't have to spend that year confused.
Everything on this site is what I actually researched, verified, and in most cases โ lived through with my own family in Cornwall, Eastern Ontario.

Cornwall, Ontario
Eastern Ontario โ CDSBEO and UCDSB school boards, Ottawa Valley, St. Lawrence River country.

Grade 5 & Grade 8
The Grade 8 timeline pushed me to understand the Ontario education system properly โ and fast.

Why anonymous?
This is a family project, not a personal brand. Keeping my name off it lets the guidance speak for itself.

India to Canada
The India comparison page exists for the same reason everything else does โ I needed it myself when deciding to move.
๐ฏ
Just a fun project
No ads, no agenda. Built for immigrant welfare โ because the first year in Canada is harder than it needs to be.

Written & verified
Every page reflects real experience, cross-checked against official school board, government, and CRA sources.
The philosophy
What this site is โ and what it isn't
โ
Lived experience
Every page covers something my family actually navigated โ school registration, TFSA setup, healthcare, travel, community hours. All real.
๐ฏ
Practical over theoretical
Specific steps, real numbers, actual timelines. The kind of information you need when you arrive โ not a year later.
๐ค
Community, not commerce
Free, always. The goal is to reduce the overwhelm every new family feels in their first year in Canada.
Important: Everything on this site is shared for general educational purposes โ not professional legal, financial, or medical advice. School policies, tax rules, and government programs change regularly. Always verify important decisions with your school board, a registered financial advisor, or the relevant authority.
